Covid 19 Testing Requirements For Travel to Ghana

The Three Covid-19 Tests You Need for Your Trip to Ghana

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advised that all travelers departing from airports in affected countries, or to the United States from any country, be screened for infection with the Coronavirus before they are allowed to board their flight. There are a total of (3)three covid-19 tests required if you are traveling to Ghana. 

Test 1. Negative Test Result Within 72 hours of Boarding

Travelers departing from the U.S. and traveling to Ghana must complete a Covid-19 test( PCR test only). They will need to show their negative PCR test to the airline before boarding their flight for departure. This test can be taken at a local CVS or another healthcare provider. The cost can range for this test can be anywhere from free to $150 depending on the site. 

Test 2. Negative Test on Arrival in Ghana

Covid-19 testing is also required for U.S. citizens upon arrival to Ghana. The cost of the test is $150 USD. You must pay online 48hours in advance of your arrival to Ghana. Proof of payment must be shown to the airline prior to boarding. Children under the age of 5 are exempt from testing. The link to prepay is below: https://myfrontierhealthcare.com/

Note*: Residents of Ghana who leave the country and return within one week are not required to present a negative COVID-19 test when they travel, but must do so when they arrive in the country.

Test 3. Negative Test Result for Arrival in U.S.

Covid-19 testing is also required for US citizens to return home and enter U.S. borders. You must present a negative covid 19 test taken within the last 72 hours upon your arrival in the United States.

Standard PCR Test Results

• The cost of the standard PCR test at LEDing Lab is 250 GHC (Ghana Cedis) which equivalent to about $41 USD. The standard PCR test results are received within 6 hours.

Rush Test Results 

• If you need a rush PCR test with results available within 2 hours, the cost is 500 GHC, which is equivalent to about $82 USD
